LADY DEVILS SOFTBALL JAMBOREE ON AUGUST 22 AT CHAFFEE – GAMES BEGIN AT 10:00 A.M.
Our Lady Devils hit the field this Saturday, August 22, to kick off their season for their Jamboree at Frisco Field in Chaffee. The Jamboree will have teams from Chaffee, Notre Dame, Neelyville, and East Carter at Chaffee beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Chaffee’s Jamboree Schedule:
10:00 a.m. – Lady Devils vs. Notre Dame
11:00 a.m. – Lady Devils vs East Carter
12:00 p.m. – Lady Devils vs Neelyville

HS FOOTBALL JAMBOREE ON AUGUST 21 AT CHAFFEE AT 6:00 P.M.
Come out to the Football Jamboree on Friday night (August 21) at Chaffee High School! The Jamboree will have teams from Scott City (which includes players from Scott City and Chaffee), Fredericktown, Doniphan, and Malden. It starts at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.


CONGRATULATIONS MRTA-FOUNDATION GRANT RECIPIENTS -- MRS. MAYBERRY AND MR. MCMURRY!
The Missouri Retired Teachers Association-Foundation (MRTA-F) Region 12 Grants were presented to Dulcie Mayberry and Jaron McMurry at Chaffee High School by Debbie Brinkman, SEMO Area Unit President and Mark Cook, Vice President, during Chaffee R-2 Professional Development Workshops.
Mrs. Mayberry’s $500 classroom grant will be used to fund classroom supplies for the 7th grade Life Science classes as well as the High School Zoology class and hands-on experiments.
Mr. McMurry’s $500 classroom grant will be used for the 8th–12th grade Industrial Arts and Robotics program. This grant will be put to work funding vital tools and technology to give students hands-on engineering, fabrication, and design experience. This support will help to keep the Industrial Arts shop and lab cutting-edge.

REMINDER - KINDERGARTEN PARENT ORIENTATION NIGHT – MONDAY, AUGUST 17 – AT 6:00 PM IN THE ELEMENTARY GYM
Kindergarten Parents and Guardians,
We would like to invite you to our Kindergarten Parent Orientation on Monday, August 17, at 6:00 pm in the Chaffee Elementary Gym. This event is designed for parents and guardians only. We ask that children not attend so parents can focus on the information being shared and have the opportunity to ask questions.
During the orientation, you will:
• Meet the kindergarten teachers and school administration.
• Learn about daily routines, schedules, and classroom expectations.
• Receive information about arrival and dismissal procedures, meals, transportation, attendance, and school communication.
• Learn how you can help your child have a successful start to kindergarten.
• Have an opportunity to ask questions before the first day of school.

The Parents of Scott City Football are hosting a Football Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
** Due to the heat, the location has been moved indoors to KC HALL AT KELSO!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. AUSTIN WESTRICH ON BEING SELECTED AS ONE OF THE WINNERS OF THE SOUTHEAST REGIONAL TEACHERS OF THE YEAR!
On August 6, the 2027 Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year nominees and winners were recognized and celebrated at the Regional Teacher of the Year Banquet at Southeast Missouri State University, and Mr. Westrich was named one of the 2027 Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year winners!
Mr. Westrich will now advance to the next phase of the Missouri Teacher of the Year selection process and will be honored alongside the other Regional Teachers of the Year at a statewide Missouri’s State Teacher of the Year celebration later. It is an honor extended only to educators who have been formally recognized as standout leaders in their districts.
Mr. Westrich’s dedication to our Chaffee students, passion for education, and commitment to excellence make him truly deserving of this honor. Chaffee School District is incredibly grateful to have him as part of our Red Devil family. Congratulations, Mr. Westrich! Thank you all for all you do!

REMINDERS - 1ST PRACTICE DATES AND ATHLETIC HANDBOOK MEETING

Fall practices begin August 10th!
HS Softball 9:00 a.m.
HS Football - 3:15 p.m.
Athletes must have a physical on file that is up to date to be able to practice on Day 1.
Handbook Meeting will be August 10th at 6:30 pm in the gym.
The Gym will open at 6:00 pm.
This is for JH and HS student athletes of ALL sports, not just fall, and also includes band members. This is for anyone who participates in a MSHSAA Activity or Sport.

CHS ATHLETICS DEAD PERIOD AUGUST 1-9, 2026
The CHS Athletics Dead Period is August 1 - 9, 2026. During this time, there will be NO sports, practices, training, or conditioning. NO campus or facilities will be available.
This is a time for our athletes, coaches, and their families to have a break and refresh before the fall season begins.

REMINDER -- BACK TO SCHOOL BASH ON AUGUST 1, 2026, AT THE SIGNAL EVENT CENTER FROM 10:00 AM-1:00 PM (Sponsored by Empower Life Community Services and made possible by many local businesses, churches, nonprofits, and volunteers working together for our children).
Pre-registration was strongly encouraged, but there is room for a few additional Chaffee students through a special donation. Check-in at Signal Event Center.
With 200 students pre-registered, they do NOT have walk-in availability for students from other schools.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ANDREW NIX (CHS 2023 GRADUATE) – RECIPIENT OF THE DR. MATT BUSHEY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD!
Congratulations to Andrew Nix, CHS 2023 graduate, who was recently awarded the 2026 Dr. Matt Bushey Scholarship sponsored by the Missouri Association of Rural Education (MARE). Andrew was one of eighteen (18) $1,000 scholarship recipients. Components of the scholarship selection criteria require that the applicant be a junior or senior-level college student, have declared a major in education, and have an interest in teaching in rural Missouri.
Andrew was recently honored at the Summer MARE Executive Board Meeting in Jefferson City.
Andrew is working on a degree in Secondary Education (Social Studies) at Southeast Missouri State University.

Congratulations to Mr. Austin Westrich, Chaffee Jr/Sr High School Business and Computer Teacher, on being selected as one of the Missouri Regional Teachers of the Year!
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) announced the 35 Regional Teachers of the Year from multiple grade levels and subject areas to represent their regions in the 2027 Missouri Teacher of the Year Program. DESE’s annual Teacher of the Year program highlights the positive impact excellent Missouri teachers have on their students.
Interim Commissioner of Education Dr. Stacey Preis stated "Our Regional Teachers of the Year represent the dedication we see in classrooms statewide. These educators go above and beyond to ensure students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed. We are honored to recognize their outstanding work and grateful for the lasting impact they make on our schools and communities."
The Teacher of the Year selection process began with the nomination of over 600 teachers who represented 321 school districts statewide.
