REMINDER -- EARLY DISMISSAL DAY ON MONDAY, APRIL 7 -- Chaffee Elementary and Jr/Sr High School will have an Early Dismissal Day on Monday, April 7th. Classes will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Afternoon Cape Career and Technology Center (CTC) students are expected to attend CTC and transportation will be provided.
APRIL IS NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH! National School Librarian Appreciation Day is Friday, April 4. National School Library Week is April 6-12, 2025. National School Library Workers Day is Tuesday, April 8. Thank you Ms. Mossman, our Chaffee School District Elementary and Jr/Sr High School librarian, for keeping our school libraries organized and for instilling the love of reading and technology in our students and staff at CES and the Jr/Sr High School. CANCELED – JUNIOR HIGH TRACK MEET ON APRIL 4TH -- The Junior High Track Meet at the Jackson Invitational on Friday, April 4, 2025, has been canceled due to impending weather and wet track conditions.
CANCELED – BASEBALL GAME AND TRACK MEETS ON APRIL 3, 2025 – The following athletic events have been CANCELED for today (April 3, 2025) due to anticipated inclement weather: HS Baseball at Bloomfield, HS Track at Malden, and JH Track at Kelly. Baseball will hold practice immediately after school in the activity center.
1ST GRADE FIELD TRIP POSTPONED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED! Our 1st grade field trip that was scheduled for Thursday, April 3, at the Bootheel Youth Museum in Malden will be RESCHEDULED due to the damage from the storm and the route we must take to get to the museum. We will keep you updated about a new date ASAP.
Afternoon CTC will not attend today. They are closing at noon today. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
PARAPROFESSIONAL APPRECIATION DAY (APRIL 2, 2025) -- Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Our Chaffee School District paraprofessionals play an important role in our classrooms and make a positive difference for our students every day. Chaffee R-2 will dismiss at 1:30pm today, 4-2-25. We have been upgraded to a level 5 overnight. This will allow our students and staff to get home. Thank you for your understanding!

RED DEVILS BASEBALL UPDATE!! The Varsity baseball game scheduled on Wednesday at New Madrid has been MOVED to TODAY (Tuesday, April 1st) at HOME (Chaffee) with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm!
Chaffee R-2 will host a meeting on Friday, April 4th at 6:00 pm to discuss the state of the football program and the possibility of Co-oping with Scott City for the 2025-2026 school year. The meeting will be held in the CHS Activity Center.
STUDENT COUNCIL HELLO SMILES WEEK (MARCH 31-APRIL 4) – Hello Smiles Week kicks off on Monday, April 31. Student Council is sponsoring a Hello Smiles Week at CHS on March 31-April 4. This week is all about kindness and inclusion, and Student Council can’t wait to share all of the activities that they have planned with all of the students at CHS. The main speaker is Nick Grassi with special guests Cooper Callis, Levi Kaelin, and SEMO football players. Music will be led by Clinton Walker. This is open to the public and free of charge. Congratulations to Carlyanne Cossou! On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Carlyanne tied the school record in the High Jump at Notre Dame with a jump of 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch). She now shares the record with Amy (Holmes) Reischman. Carlyanne also placed a dominating 1st in a packed field (25 total teams) in both the 100 Meter (15.39) and 300 Meter Hurdles (47.10) lowering her already existing school records of 15.62 & 48.46.

PRE- KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN SCREENING ON MARCH 27 AND 28 -- Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Screening for students in the Chaffee R-II School District will be held on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28 from 8:30 am-2:00 pm at Chaffee Elementary School (408 Elliott Avenue). Children turning 4 on or before July 31, 2025 should be screened for entry into Pre-Kindergarten, and children turning 5 on or before July 31, 2025 should be screened for entry into Kindergarten. Please contact Chaffee Elementary at 887-3244 to schedule an appointment. Please bring your child to the screening along with his/her: (1) birth certificate, (2) shot record, (3) social security card, (4) proof of residency. Screening takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
