National School Bus Safety Week October 21-25, 2024
RED RIBBON WEEK 2024 ("LIFE IS A MOVIE, FILM DRUG FREE") AT CHAFFEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- During the week of October 21-October 25, CES will be celebrating the right to remain BULLY & DRUG FREE!! During the month of October the kids will be learning the dangers associated with drugs and how to say NO!! They will also be learning how to identify bullying behavior and how to report, support, and stand up to bullying. A few fun items during the week include: *A DRUG FREE color contest in each class; one winner from each class will receive a prize. *Each class will decorate a pumpkin to be judged during parent/teacher conferences. The class with the most votes will get a pizza party. *The classes will watch Monsters Inc. and enjoy popcorn. *Each day will be a different dress theme. MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 -- YOU CAN’T SCARE ME, I’M BULLY & DRUG FREE!! Wear a Halloween theme shirt. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 – YOU CAN’T SCARE THE SOCKS OFF ME, I’M BULLY & DRUG FREE!! REMINDER -- KINDERGARTEN/SENIOR WALK (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11) -- The Kindergarten/Senior Walk will be held on Friday, October 11, at 11:00 am. This is a new tradition we are starting this year. All Kindergarten students will join the Seniors on the football field for a Kindergarten/Senior Walk. We are asking Seniors and Kindergartners to please wear Red and Black this Friday to school. Kindergarten students will be bussed to the high school for the event and will be taken back to the elementary school afterwards. Parents are welcome to come out and watch if they want.

HOMECOMING PARADE RESCHEDULE TO OCTOBER 4 AT 1:45 PM -- The 2024 Homecoming Parade has been rescheduled for Friday, October 4, at 1:45 pm! We invite any businesses, organizations, clubs, etc. to join us. Please contact Morgan Swinford via Facebook, at morgan.swinford@chaffeer2.org, or call Chaffee High School if you are interested in being in the parade. Both Chaffee Elementary and St. Ambrose students will still be in session at the time of the parade and will come out to watch the parade from their school. The route is the same as last year: The parade will start at the high school, go down Yoakum to Main, Main to Elliott, Elliott to 5th, and 5th back to Yoakum. JUNIOR / SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL REMINDERS -- Because of last week’s weather, our Homecoming Parade has been rescheduled to Friday, October 4th. Junior/Senior High School students will be dismissed at 1:04 p.m. on Friday afternoon to either be in the parade or to watch the parade. Bus routes will NOT run for 7th-12th grade students. Alternative transportation will need to be arranged for that afternoon only. Please notify the Jr/Sr High School office on any changes and communicate those to your student(s). ELEMENTARY REMINDERS -- Elementary students WILL be in session at the time of the parade and will come out to watch the parade from the elementary school.

CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. JENNIFER NOLEN, GRAND MARSHALL CHS 2024 HOMECOMING! CHS Student Council honored Chaffee R-2 School District former employee, Jennifer Nolen, as Grand Marshall of CHS 2024 Homecoming. Mrs. Nolen grew up in Chaffee and graduated in 1964 from Chaffee High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Home Economics from SEMO in 1968. Mrs. Nolen returned to her Alma Mater in 1984 and taught Family and Consumer Sciences for 21 years until retirement. When asked about her favorite memories of teaching, her response was, “Those she shared with her students in and out of the classroom. Teaching life skills was a favorite.” Thank you, Mrs. Nolen, for all of your hard work and dedication to the school and community!
