NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK (OCTOBER 21-25, 2024) -- National School Bus Safety Week is October 21-25. Chaffee School District commends our amazing bus drivers and transportation staff! Our bus drivers consistently ensure safe and dependable transportation for students to and from school every day and also to all of our athletic events and field trips. Thank you to our bus drivers for their dedication and commitment and for going that “extra mile” for our students’ safety! RED RIBBON WEEK 2024 ("LIFE IS A MOVIE, FILM DRUG FREE") AT CHAFFEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- During the week of October 21-October 25, CES will be celebrating the right to remain BULLY & DRUG FREE!! During the month of October the kids will be learning the dangers associated with drugs and how to say NO!! They will also be learning how to identify bullying behavior and how to report, support, and stand up to bullying. A few fun items during the week include: *A DRUG FREE color contest in each class; one winner from each class will receive a prize. *Each class will decorate a pumpkin to be judged during parent/teacher conferences. The class with the most votes will get a pizza party. *The classes will watch Monsters Inc. and enjoy popcorn. *Each day will be a different dress theme. MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 -- YOU CAN’T SCARE ME, I’M BULLY & DRUG FREE!! Wear a Halloween theme shirt. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 – YOU CAN’T SCARE THE SOCKS OFF ME, I’M BULLY & DRUG FREE!! Wear Halloween or Fall Color socks. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23 -- DRESS YOUR BEST TO CARVE OUT DRUGS!! Wear Pumpkin or Orange attire. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 – THERE ARE NO MONSTERS IN ME, I’M BULLY & DRUG FREE!! Wear purple for “Team Sulli” or green for “Team Wazowski”. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 -- I’M DREAMING OF A WORLD THAT IS BULLY & DRUG FREE!! Wear pajamas.

BETA CLUB SPIRIT WEEK FOR FOUNDER’S WEEK FOR ALL JR/SR HIGH STUDENTS OCTOBER 21-25 -- The Junior and Senior Beta wants to invite ALL Junior/Senior High students to participate in the Beta Spirit Week for Founder’s Week! This will take place October 21-25. You do NOT have to be in Beta in order to participate. MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 - Famous Founders Day - Dress like your favorite celebrity! TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 - Role Reversal Day - Students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students! WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23 - Neon Wednesday - Break out your neon and glow down the hallway! Beta wants to highlight the club's bright future. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 - Throwback Thursday - Show us what era you're obsessed with! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 - Founder's Pride - Wear your Black and Yellow (Gold) to show support for Beta Club!

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT CLASS 2 DISTRICT 1 AT CHAFFEE BEGINS ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17 – The Class 2 District 1 Softball Tournament starts on Thursday, October 17 at Frisco Field in Chaffee. Games & Game Times: 1:00 pm East Carter vs Twin Rivers // 3:00 pm Chaffee vs St. Pius // 5:00 pm Jefferson vs Kelly. Admission cost is $6.00. There is no streaming allowed. BOSS APPRECIATION DAY (OCTOBER 16, 2024) -- Happy Boss Appreciation Day to our Chaffee R-2 School District leaders – Dr. Nix, Mr. Cundiff, and Dr. Vandeven. We appreciate their dedication, leadership, and commitment to our students, faculty, staff, and school community. Thank you for all you do for Chaffee School District!

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK (OCTOBER 14-18) -- Join us in celebrating National School Lunch Week on October 14-18, 2024! This week we are honoring the importance of healthy, nutritious meals served in our school cafeteria that support student success in and out of the classroom. We are grateful for our cafeteria staff in each of our buildings who work tirelessly to prepare delicious meals for our students each day! We appreciate all that they do to keep our students fueled and ready to learn. Happy National School Lunch Week to our amazing cafeteria team! REMINDER – CHS PAJAMA DAY -- Tomorrow (Friday, October 11) is Pajama Day again at CHS. The Senior Beta Club is sponsoring a Pajama Day fundraiser every Friday during the month of October to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. For $1.00, Jr/Sr High School students can wear their favorite pair of pajamas. Beta members will be at both entrances on Friday morning to collect $1.00 and give stickers to those who are participating. Thank you for helping us make a difference!

REMINDER -- KINDERGARTEN/SENIOR WALK (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11) -- The Kindergarten/Senior Walk will be held on Friday, October 11, at 11:00 am. This is a new tradition we are starting this year. All Kindergarten students will join the Seniors on the football field for a Kindergarten/Senior Walk. We are asking Seniors and Kindergartners to please wear Red and Black this Friday to school. Kindergarten students will be bussed to the high school for the event and will be taken back to the elementary school afterwards. Parents are welcome to come out and watch if they want.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11 -- HS Football at Veritas Christian (O’Fallon) at 7:00 pm.

HOMECOMING PARADE RESCHEDULE TO OCTOBER 4 AT 1:45 PM -- The 2024 Homecoming Parade has been rescheduled for Friday, October 4, at 1:45 pm! We invite any businesses, organizations, clubs, etc. to join us. Please contact Morgan Swinford via Facebook, at morgan.swinford@chaffeer2.org, or call Chaffee High School if you are interested in being in the parade. Both Chaffee Elementary and St. Ambrose students will still be in session at the time of the parade and will come out to watch the parade from their school. The route is the same as last year: The parade will start at the high school, go down Yoakum to Main, Main to Elliott, Elliott to 5th, and 5th back to Yoakum. JUNIOR / SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL REMINDERS -- Because of last week’s weather, our Homecoming Parade has been rescheduled to Friday, October 4th. Junior/Senior High School students will be dismissed at 1:04 p.m. on Friday afternoon to either be in the parade or to watch the parade. Bus routes will NOT run for 7th-12th grade students. Alternative transportation will need to be arranged for that afternoon only. Please notify the Jr/Sr High School office on any changes and communicate those to your student(s). ELEMENTARY REMINDERS -- Elementary students WILL be in session at the time of the parade and will come out to watch the parade from the elementary school.

NATIONAL CUSTODIAN APPRECIATION DAY IS OCTOBER 2 -- We thank all of our Chaffee School custodians who work tirelessly to keep our school buildings clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone! Their dedication, attention to detail, and hard work behind the scenes are appreciated. From spotless hallways to well-maintained classrooms, they make our school a better place every day. We appreciate our custodians and maintenance personnel and thank them for all they do every day! PAJAMA DAY AT JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4 -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. JENNIFER NOLEN, GRAND MARSHALL CHS 2024 HOMECOMING! CHS Student Council honored Chaffee R-2 School District former employee, Jennifer Nolen, as Grand Marshall of CHS 2024 Homecoming. Mrs. Nolen grew up in Chaffee and graduated in 1964 from Chaffee High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Home Economics from SEMO in 1968. Mrs. Nolen returned to her Alma Mater in 1984 and taught Family and Consumer Sciences for 21 years until retirement. When asked about her favorite memories of teaching, her response was, “Those she shared with her students in and out of the classroom. Teaching life skills was a favorite.” Thank you, Mrs. Nolen, for all of your hard work and dedication to the school and community!

These will be displayed in the Homecoming Parade that was rescheduled on Friday, October 4, at 1:45 pm!
